Why get a Bike Fit?

So what type of cyclist is most likely to benefit from a bike fit? Are bike fits not the preserve of professional cyclists? The short answer to those two questions is; everyone and no definitely not. If you think about it, professional cyclists are the least likely to require a bike fit. In order for them to have reached the echelons of the professional peloton they must be able to already perform at the highest level, which is unlikely to be able to happen if they are incorrectly fitted on their bike. A 100 mile ride will involve roughly 33,000 pedal strokes; that's a lot of  repetitions of the same muscles, joints and tendons. So imagine the damage you may be doing to those muscles, joints and tendons if you are over extending or under extending them that many times repeatedly in a short period of time. A good bike fit is a bike fit that makes you feel comfortable on the bike. If you are comfortable on the bike you will be able to hold that position for longer, produce more power with each pedal stroke, and most importantly enjoy your time on the bike more. So who will benefit from a bike fit? Every individual who gets on a bike will benefit from getting on the right sized bike that is correctly fitted to them. Book a bike fit!!
